Adventures in the College of Arts + Architecture!

I am so excited to be able to share this project that has been months in the making: I made a 28-page (!!!!) comic-style booklet for the UNC Charlotte College of Arts + Architecture Fall 2019 Events + Exhibitions! This booklet showcases all the upcoming events and gallery exhibitions that the college offers this coming semester as well as a series of live drawings I did of students engaged in classes across the college, captured back in April of this year.

For this project, I spent time observing classes in session and drew live on the scene, then digitally created a booklet, along with the assistance and writing of Meg Whalen, director of communications for the CoA+A, that combined the drawings and the information to present all the upcoming opportunities in a lively and new way. The book includes a hand-drawn map as well as watercolor renderings of all the buildings that make up the college.

I was so happy to be able to work on a project like this, a very non-traditional kind of brochure, for my alma mater: I graduated from the UNC Charlotte College of Arts + Architecture in 2016 with a BFA in Digital Media, and this project certainly tested many skills that I honed while earning that degree. The booklet will be available to see online and you can pick up hardcopies at various stands throughout the campus of UNCCharlotte, especially in the areas of Rowe, Storrs, Robinson Hall, and the Center City building uptown.

I’ll also be doing a second edition for the spring 2020 events calendar!

Much thanks for Meg for bringing me on this project, and for all her work in making it happen!
